The construction number format of PZL‑Świdnik built W‑3 helicopters is VV.BB.NN where:

VV is the basic version of the rotorcraft:

      30 = prototypes
      31 = transport version
      32 = ambulance version
      33 = passenger version
      36 = armed multi-role version
      37 = FAR Part 29 certificated version
      39 = sea rescue version

BB is the production batch number.

NN is the number within the production batch.

Location

The construction number is pressed into a metal plate which is to be found on the right side of the cockpit instrument panel. The construction number is easily readable also from the outside.

Normally the contruction number is additionally painted on both sides of the tail boom. Both on civil and military aircraft.
